It's Already July 8th......?

What in the world?

I can't believe half of 2008 has already occurred. Hope everyone had a wonderful 4th. Nothing too terribly exciting took place in our world that day - went to a BBQ and tried to catch the fireworks from Coors Field. The day before we went on a long hike in Boulder at Chautauqua park. It was wonderful and we had a lovely day although it was quite the challenging hike. We then had lunch in town where I had my first Guinness Float. Literally this is an amazing idea and perfectly fits into my realm of happiness, for I do love Guinness and I do love ice cream. We were so burnt out from the hike that we laid around the rest of the afternoon (might have also had something to do with the Guinness!!!)

So, what else is new....
  • Jenna and Trey are in Costa Rica - check out the link to their blog from this page to see some awesome pictures.
  • Our special friends, the Rockhills, are having a baby girl - check out the link to their blog also.
  • My mom is coming for a visit in two days - so excited to show her our new gigs! The following week Nancy and Troy come for a short visit.
  • Derek is painting up a storm - stand by for a very big announcement in August or early September. Do not ask for details. I have already said too much...
  • CO got it's act together and has expanded our freedom to include the right to buy beer or wine (or whatever your alcohol of choice is) on Sundays. I bought some Sunday night just to drive the point home that they had made the right decision.
  • I am interning at Namlo International - they work to build schools and recruit/train teachers in Nicaragua and Nepal. I am also hoping to soon start interning at International Developement Enterprises (I am meeting with them on Thursday and hoping all works out) and Doctors Care. No - none of them are paying me, so I am still babysitting to bring home a little money! Luckily I have found some great families....
  • I cut my hair. I took Hannah (I am in love with her) three pictures: 1) Victoria Beckham (former spice girl), 2) Renee Zellweger with short hair and 3) an angry botox model. With these three pictures she produced on my head the best haircut I have ever had.
  • I am training for the Denver half-marathon. HALF! I will not be doing another full for sometime still....
  • Derek and I now both have bikes here with us in Denver after his dad shipped him his. Did I mention mine has a New Belgium bell and a detachable basket? It does. We love riding all over together. Our goal is to ride to Boulder before we go back to school in the fall.
  • I was introduced to the Neti Pot recently and held off committing to it for awhile, but then a lovely lady gave me one as a gift. It was actually a very thoughtful gift - thanks Rachel! Watch this video. It seriously works (once I got the hang of it) - I now rarely suffer from crazy, debilitating allergy attacks despite the whole city being covered in bright yellow pollen.
  • I started a book club. Yep. All the book clubs I could find were super strict, serious or lame so I started my own. We meet on the 20th and are reading Sula - BTW....
  • We have not had to utilize our CERT training yet.
