(Pizza) Pie in the Sky

Jenna and Trey and Jackie stayed with us in Denver this past week.

There is a pizza restaurant here in CO which has a challenge that goes a little something like this: you pay them to make you a HUGE pizza (about 14 lbs) with a super thick crust, lots of cheese, lots of veggies and lots and lots of meat and then if you and a partner can eat 12 lbs of it within one hour you get the pizza for free plus $100 and some other goodies. Well, when Jackie and Trey heard of this they decided it was within their realm of possibility and that it in fact sounded a bit like fun! So, last Thursday we headed down to a Beau Jo's Pizza and they put forth their best effort.

It was serious business - Jenna and I couldn't even sit at the same table as them. When the pizza came out Trey said he was literally shaking he was so nervous.

It was like four or five inches thick...

We were told that standing up while eating when it started to get rough would help....

It didn't. Their plan was to cut the pieces up into small bites and to save the crust for the end...

They did a pretty good job....

But weren't quite able to put the entire 12lbs away. They claim it was all the meat that did them in. We took the rest home but since they were not going to be able to eat it and Jenna and I for sure wanted nothing to do with it, they gave it to a homeless man so he would have dinner for a few weeks!

They should not be discouraged though - out of all 7 stores and something like 20 years only 4 couples have conquered the "challenge" and the servers said they did a very good job - much better then most.
