My Favorite Pastime
So.
I love weddings. I love all events in the community actually. In fact, I love them so much that I gladly left the comforts of the home in town and the unlimited supply of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and “Mad Men” to travel back to Woodford for a wedding and 21st birthday celebration a couple weekends ago.
Here are some pictures of one of the most recent weddings I have attended. I don’t take too many pictures nowadays usually and try to get away with not carrying the camera. I mean, hello, I am not a tourist! But, these were our neighbors right across the street and I got sick of hearing “Simphiwe, you shoot me” so I went and got the camera. And boy was I glad I did when I saw my favorite dancing group pull up!
That’s right. I have a favorite. That is how many weddings I attend! I decided that me and the saucy girl (watch the video) should be friends and now we are. I am groupie – she sent me an SMS this past weekend to let me know where they would be dancing! The dancing group gave me a lift back to town where Derek was and my neighbors were afraid I was running away to become a Zulu dancer. You never know – if the job market in the states does not pick up……
I am starting lessons soon!
The ceremonies involved in the traditional weddings remind me of being at a musical – it is totally unrealistic and yet completely believable that everyone knows the words and the dance moves and exactly when to bust out in them!
