Thursday was our first snow day. Having not grown up in places where snow prevents activities neither of us have ever had school or work canceled because of snow. Hurricanes, yes. But not snow and a snow day is much nicer then a "hurricane day" because it doesn't come with failed electricity, mass destruction, and danger! When I was growing up in Gilbert, we did have "rainy day schedules" at school, but that mostly meant that it was rainy and us desert inhabitants found it worthy of a title!
We spent the day, Derek, Gandalf, and me, reading and walking around our neighborhood. It was lovely and allowed us to get slightly ahead of the game as this is our first week of a new quarter - my last quarter! Last quarter was pretty rough for me and slightly easier for Derek and it looks like this one will be reversed. I actually had a paper due (if you can call it a "paper" since it was the size of an entire thesis) last Friday and then started classes on Monday. I guess that is how the "real world" works though - you don't get a break from work after finishing a project or report, you still have to come to work! In the real world; however, the person doing the work is getting paid, not paying someone to assign the work. So, I feel I deserved a break!
