Bull Riding and Blue Bear Butts

It is perfectly fine that we were acting like the tourists I see downtown all the time because Brooke and Jason were tourists and we have only lived here for a few months.

Nothing is....

"I can't believe that," said Alice.

"Can't you?' the Queen said in a pitying tone. "Try again: draw a long breath, and shut your eyes."

Alice laughed. "There's no use trying," she said. "One can't believe impossible things."

"I daresay you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half-an-hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast."

[LEWISCARROLL,Through the Looking Glass]

This was the opening quote to an article titled "Sex and Death in the Rational World of Defense Intellectuals" and I found it very amusing that an article about nuclear weapons/war was started with a quote such as this. And actually, the entire piece was very interesting and super amusing (I actually chuckled a few times) so click the link and read it if you feel compelled but be warned that it is kinda outrageous.

I think I am guilty (if guilt is to be ascribed) of imaging impossible things very often. Why just today I imagined I had three hands and for a few seconds was confused why I couldn't hold up a bottle of water at a drinking fountain to fill it, press the button to make the water come out and lift a bottle to my mouth (I was, of course, dehydrated) at the same time. Does that count?

Lipstick Lounge

So, the day after my Pa's funeral we were messing around and helping my Nana get things in order and one thing led to another and here we are wearing a lovely shade of bright fuscia (spelling) pink lipstick that I would have thought no woman should own, but that my grandmother actually pulls off very nicely! There was also a bloody mary or two and few margaritas involved but that is besides the point. The main message that I am trying to portray here is that I have a bunch of awesome women in my family who are always fun to play around with.

Mario and Edward

I asked James to send me a picture of him as Mario literally FOREVER ago. I finally got it and I was so very amused that I am putting it here for all to see. If you remember, Jimmy use to have a full beard but he was so dedicated to his costume that he shaved it all off minus a small stash! That is his good and long time friend Toby as Edward Scissor Hands.

I guess the fact that in three weeks the biggest thing I have to share is my brother's four month old Halloween costume shows that nothing too exciting is going on. I am nearing the end of my first quarter at DU and have registered for next quarter already. Not really sure why, but I am taking more credits then I did this quarter despite the fact that I am already WAY too busy and haven't seen my husband since Sunday. Oh wait, I know why - because this place is so very expensive that I need to get done ASAP!

Brooke and Jason were out here this past week - pictures to come - and the weekend before my good friend Chris was in town so we also got to spend sometime with him. When are you coming to play in the snow with us?
